Doi Pearl and “Koshi-mono”

Pearl cultivation takes about one year.
Pearls harvested within this period are called “Tonen-mono.”

Pearls that remain in the sea for an additional year are known as “Koshi-mono.”
With more time in the ocean, the nacre layer becomes thicker, resulting in deeper and more refined luster.

However, this process places a greater burden on the Akoya oysters, increasing mortality rates.
Even when successfully harvested, not all pearls are of high quality.
At Doi Pearl, we embrace this challenge and carefully cultivate “Koshi-mono”
in pursuit of exceptional beauty.
