Pearl ChipCultured Akoya pearl contains nucleus made from the shell of swan mussel, and as it is crushed, the pearl layer of Akoya oyster and the shell of swan mussel are mixed, so it was a very difficult task to take out the pure pearl layer from the pearl. We succeeded in developing a method to separate the nacre and nucleus by collaborating with Ehime University and use it as a “Pearl Tip”.

Pearl PowderYou may think we just crush pearls when you hear the word “pearl powder”, but it’s not the case. There is a round-shaped “nucleus” made of a shell of swan mussel inside a pearl. Besides, pearls often contain impurities such as organic matters. It therefore ends up in powder mostly made of swan mussel or impurities if we just crush pearls. “Pearl Powder” of Doi Pearl is produced by crushing the nacre layer of Akoya oysters only.
